Yesterday morning I found out that my afternoon client had cancelled. Later that afternoon, I (very much by chance) discovered that my first class today was cancelled. I had been searching for any window of time to go see Josh, and I didn't hesitate to seize the moment. I took a total of 5 minutes to decide that I was going to see him sans ANY gifts that I had spent months thinking about, but never bought because I had believed up to that point that I wasn't going to see him anytime soon. Stopped by my work, got an amazing smoothie (seriously that place is tasty), went next door to get some cupcakes to celebrate with, ran home to get the dress I had bought for the big night I had originally thought we'd have, and took off.
Turns out, Josh was passing through Asheville the exact same time I was. I semi-ruined the suprise because I had to tell him that I was near Asheville in order to keep him from driving on to Table Rock. Changed into my dress in a parking lot where some nearby local enjoyed the free show, and then went to our point of rendevous to wait, barefoot, in my snazzy dress, cupcakes in hand. I was really happy with a) my ability to be spontaneous and b) my resourcefulness.
The evening turned out better than I could have hoped. We got Indian food in Asheville, drove on to Table Rock, spent the night, thought we (okay, thought I) heard bears in the middle of the night (which isn't unreasonable because they've had bears on base, and I ran into TWO when hiking by myself - did I tell this story?), and then kissed goodbye in the morning when he had to go to work.
His birthday is tomorrow, too.
Grad school is really sucking right now. My Language professor is far less than reasonable or good at his job. We have an exam on Monday which I am probably going to fail. I don't care that I didn't read the articles, because SLI is dumb, and a stupid chicken-or-egg type issue.
In other news, I found out the reason the owner of my work is so loaded. She is a caterer for rock stars. Apparently, she was Bob Dylan's personal chef for some time, and has catered tours for he, Dave Matthews, and coming up soon, Madonna, among others. And I get to eat her shit for free because I'm an employee.
